Due to the unique combination of semiconductor, piezoelectric, optical and thermal characteristics ZnO crystals can find a broad spectrum of applications in science and technology (piezoelectric converters, optical waveguides, gas sensors, optoelectronic and acoustoelectronic gadgets, scintillators etc.).
