II-VI compounds - Growth Method
Bridgeman Method: single crystals formed from the melt in the lower part of the cruicible serve as the bait.
The bottom of the crucible has a conic shape.
During the growth the crucible is steadily lowered into the colder part of the furnace.
The speed of growth amounts to a few mm per hour.
The Features of the Method:
Crystals grown by this method do not exceed 40 mm in diameter.
Bridgeman polycrystal ribbons amount to 100 x 100 x 10 mm at maximum.
